SmartGeometry 2010

[9.2.2010] The SmartGeometry Group is pleased to announce that the annual SG event will take place in Barcelona 19th – 24th March 2010. The event will be the key event in the year for discussing, learning and networking about the emerging practice of digital parametrics within the AEC community. The event will come in three parts, a Workshop (19th-22th March), a public Shop Talk (23rd March), and a public Symposium and Reception (24th March). These events follow the highly successful previous SG events in San Francisco 2009, Munich 2008, New York 2007, Cambridge/London, UK 2006 and multiple preceding events. SmartGeometry

Přednáška profesora Johna Gera

[17.9.2009] Přednáška se uskuteční 24. září na Fakultě stavební ČVUT (budova D, místnost 1122). Začátek ve 14:00.

John Gero je jedním z předních vědeckých pracovníků na poli CAAD (Computer Aided Architectural Design). Je zakladatelem Key Center of Design Computing v Sydney. V současné době je hostujícím profesorem na George Mason University ve Washingtonu. John Gero je autorem nebo spoluautorem 48 knih a více než 550 článku a zároveň založil prestižní konferenci Artificial Intelligence in Design and Design Computing and Cognition. Pro svůj přínos je celosvětové uznávanou osobností nejen v architektuře, ale i ve stavebnictví a dokonce i strojním inženýrství.

Digital Architecture London Conference

[22.8.2009] To celebrate London as a centre of design and innovation, the ‘Digital Architecture London’ Conference will take place at the Building Centre on 21st September 2009. Presenting a selection of London’s leading architects, artists, designers and engineers, the conference will examine how London is shaping the digital future of the built environment.

Introducing the latest developments in digital design practice, the conference will explore new spaces, social interactions, design and fabrication processes, and speculate on architecture’s post-digital futures. Distributed Intelligence in Design - GC workshop + symposium

[21.2.2009] The GC workshop consists of hands-on activity, with tutors drawn from the most important groups investing in computational design in industry and academia. The goals of the workshop will be to explore in depth what can be done with computational design tools by the attendees. It will create a critical forum based on professionals who actually practice the skill of parametric and computational geometry. The workshop will be a great opportunity to meet and work with the most important players both from the academic and commercial worlds. The workshop is supported by Bentley Systems and the SmartGeometry Group, and organised in collaboration with MInD Research Group, University of Salford, UK.The symposium will investigate the emerging concept of “Distributed Intelligence in Design”. Experts, intellectuals, academics and practitioners in the field of architectural design and production, considered to be leading figures in the field, will debate the direction of technologies and practices that are deemed as influential in setting the agenda for future research, practice and education.

The symposium is organised in collaboration with the Sub-working Group, Free Form Design (FFD), of the International Association of Shell and Spatial Structures (IASS), MInD Research group of the University of Salford, RIBA Northwest and the Centre for Construction Innovation (CCI) in Manchester.

Seminář: Metody moderního projektování

[30.9.2008] Od pondělí 29. září do čtvrtka 2. října mají zájemci z řad architektů a projektantů možnost seznámit se s novými metodami projektování. V rámci odpoledních seminářů od 14 do 16 hodin budou pozornost posluchačů poutat možnosti projektování na principu Informačního modelu budovy (BIM). Akce se uskuteční v rámci 2. ročníku Architecture Week 2008 v centrále Architecture Week v domě Nadace ABF na Václavském náměstí 31. Letní škola software 2008 na FA ČVUT

[20.3.2008] Architectural Geometry is the first book to introduce a revolutionary new approach to design. Geometry lies at the core of the architectural design process. It is omnipresent, from the initial form-finding stages to the actual construction. Modern constructive geometry provides a variety of tools for the efficient design, analysis, and manufacture of complex shapes. This results in new challenges for architecture. Architektu(h)ra v3.0 aneb tři dny zdarma na Ještědu

Orfeus | interaktivní audiovizuální prostředí

[12.2.2008] V minulém roce zahájilo činnost výukové a výzkumné mezioborové pracoviště Institutu Intermédií (IIM). Jde o laboratoř, zaměřenou na konvergenci současného umění a pokročilých technologií. Whereas last year’s event majored on the new technologies in the then upcoming Rhino v4, this year we will be placing a larger emphasis on in depth customer stories. ONL has been invited to compose the exhibition in the most frequented architectural gallery in Budapest due to winning the tender for the Budapest Közraktárak building. Visitors will be offered a prime experience, as powered by Philips 3D solutions ONL will present the CET Budapest project on the 42-inch 3D WOWvx display, a threedimensional 42 inch screen. Visitors to this exhibition can experience a complete presentation of the office of ONL [Oosterhuis_ Lénárd], our projects, our publications and our visions.

3D Portraits: Architecture Meets Animation

[7.9.2007] Mexico City-based architect Michel Rojkind and art director Vivian Rosenthal of Manhattan’s Tronic Studio have a lot in common. Both work with top-level international clients. Both are multi-disciplined creatives: Rojkind was a drummer in a popular Mexican rock band, while Rosenthal has an M.A. in architecture. Media Architecture Conference, London

[19.8.2007] The Impact of Building Integrated Large Scale Displays on Urbanism and Architecture. Developments in display technology and building materials are leading to new forms of hybrid architecture that break away from existing conceptions of surface, structure, lighting and moving imagery. Light Emitting Diode (LED) displays integrated with the fabric of built structures allow prominent imagery to be integrated with the façade, even in direct sunlight. Although energy requirements are practical only when displays are used in less bright conditions, there remain significant consequences for the townscape and urban environment; cinematic topias as pervasive as Minority Report and Blade Runner have become technically feasible. www.mediaarchitecture.org
